Why Brickwood Cebu Keeps Me Coming Back

There’s something about Busay that always feels like a quick escape from the city. The cool breeze, mountain views, and laid-back atmosphere make it one of my favorite places to unwind in Cebu. And whenever I find myself craving comfort food with a view, one restaurant instantly comes to mind, Brickwood.

Known for their signature brick oven pizzas, Brickwood has built quite a reputation among Cebu food lovers. But surprisingly, while many people come for the pizza, the real reason I keep coming back again and again is their Crispy Ribs. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and with that satisfying crisp texture on the outside and tender and juicy meat on the inside, it’s one of those dishes that immediately becomes memorable after the first bite.

So when my brother Edd came to visit Cebu, I knew Brickwood had to be part of the itinerary. Of course, I wanted him to try what I always rave about, but since he doesn’t eat pork, it became the perfect excuse for us to explore more of their specialties together.

We started with the Eggplant Fries, which honestly caught us both by surprise. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, sprinkled with parmesan powder, this was incredibly addictive, definitely not your usual appetizer. It’s the kind of dish you order “just to try” and suddenly realize you’ve finished the entire plate.

Next came the BBQ Chicken Pizza, fresh from Brickwood’s famous brick oven. Smoky, cheesy, and packed with flavor, every slice had that comforting homemade feel that makes pizza nights extra special. The slightly charred crust gave it that authentic brick oven touch that pizza lovers always look for.

For pasta, we went with the Mushroom Pasta. Rich, creamy, and earthy in all the right ways. It balanced the heavier dishes perfectly and added something warm and comforting to the table. Then came one of the standout surprises of the night: the Chicken in Pumpkin Puree. Creamy, savory, and beautifully served, it felt hearty yet unique at the same time. Definitely one of those dishes that makes you pause after the first spoonful because it’s unexpectedly good.

And of course, no laid-back Busay dinner feels complete without drinks. Brickwood also serves great cocktails that pair perfectly with the chilly mountain air and cozy atmosphere. Whether you’re winding down after a long day or simply enjoying good conversations with friends, their drinks definitely add to the whole experience. Just a gentle reminder though, enjoy responsibly and never drink and drive. Better to fully enjoy the night and get home safely.

What makes Brickwood special isn’t just the food. It’s the entire experience. The cool Busay air, rustic interiors, warm lighting, and relaxed atmosphere make it feel like the kind of place where conversations naturally linger longer. Whether you’re catching up with family, hanging out with friends, or simply escaping the city for a bit, Brickwood has this cozy charm that makes you want to stay awhile.

And while I’ll probably always return for those Crispy Ribs, moments like this remind me why restaurants like Brickwood become personal favorites. Sometimes, it’s not just about one signature dish, it’s about the memories created around the table, discovering new favorites, and sharing good food with people you love.

If you ever find yourself heading up to Busay, consider this your sign to make a stop at Brickwood. Come hungry, bring good company, and don’t leave without trying more than just the pizza.
