Be a Flood Hero: Cebu Unites Against Flooding

On September 27, at the Cebu Coliseum, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), together with the private sector and the Cebu Creators Circle, officially launched the Flood Hero Initiative—and it’s a call for all of us to step up.

A Community-Led Movement
The launch gathered leaders, businesses, and creators in one venue, united by one goal: to fight flooding together. The private sector is bringing in resources, logistics, and technology, while creators are amplifying the cause online. But for this initiative to truly make an impact, it needs something more powerful than any machine or campaign—it needs us, the citizens.

How We Can Be Flood Heroes Too

• Keep drains clear. Something as simple as properly disposing of trash and avoiding single-use plastics helps prevent clogged waterways.
• Adopt sustainable habits. Harvest rainwater, plant trees, and use permeable materials around our homes to reduce run-off.
• Community vigilance. Report clogged drainage, broken systems, and illegal dumping. Collective eyes on the ground create faster solutions.
• Volunteer & support. Join clean-up drives, tree-planting activities, or local information campaigns. Time and effort are powerful contributions.
• Educate & influence. Share knowledge with friends, families, and neighbors—especially kids—about how small habits affect flooding.
