Fashion, Music, and Meaningful Moments at NUSTAR’s 4th Anniversary Celebration

Walking into the grand lobby of NUSTAR Resort Cebu last May 8, 2026 felt like stepping into an evening where Cebuano creativity took center stage. Marking its fourth anniversary, NUSTAR celebrated with WOVEN: Four Years of Elevated Moments, a gathering that seamlessly brought together fashion, music, craftsmanship, and community under one beautifully curated experience.

From the very beginning, the atmosphere already felt different. Guests were welcomed into a space transformed with elegance and intention, where every detail reflected the evening’s deeper message: celebrating artistry while giving back to the community. The event gathered distinguished guests, media personalities, partners, and stakeholders, all coming together not simply for an anniversary celebration, but for a meaningful showcase of Cebuano talent and culture.

One of the night’s biggest highlights was the fashion presentation featuring renowned Filipino designers Philip Rodriguez and Bree Esplanada. Watching the collection unfold live was mesmerizing. The couture pieces, crafted using handwoven textiles sourced from Cebu weaving communities, beautifully merged heritage craftsmanship with contemporary silhouettes. Every look carried texture, structure, and movement that paid tribute to Filipino artistry while still feeling modern and elevated.

Bree Esplanada’s creations showcased a refined and contemporary approach, balancing fluidity and structure through expressive silhouettes that felt both bold and sophisticated. Meanwhile, Philip Rodriguez’s designs highlighted meticulous craftsmanship and thoughtful detailing, presenting pieces that embodied timeless Filipino elegance with a fresh perspective.

Beyond the runway, the evening carried an emotional depth that made the experience even more memorable. The live performance by the Tabor Hill College Orchestra filled the lobby with beautiful symphonies throughout the night, adding warmth and emotion to the celebration. Hearing the students perform while surrounded by fashion, art, and community made the event feel intimate despite its grand scale.

The celebration also carried a strong sense of purpose through an exclusive silent auction featuring the couture pieces showcased during the evening. Proceeds from the auction will support educational and cultural initiatives for Tabor Hill College, reinforcing the event’s mission of preserving culture while creating opportunities for the next generation.

Another standout moment of the evening was the ceremonial cake-cutting led by NUSTAR executives alongside Fr. Jose Conson, Principal of Tabor Hill College, together with designers Philip Rodriguez and Bree Esplanada. The grand centerpiece cake, crafted in-house by NUSTAR’s award-winning culinary team led by Executive Chef Martin Rebolledo and Executive Pastry Chef Rolando Macatangay, became one of the visual highlights of the celebration. Designed to serve nearly 300 guests, the cake symbolized four years of milestones, partnerships, and shared growth between NUSTAR and the Cebuano community.

During his address, Sean Knights emphasized the importance of building meaningful partnerships within the community, sharing how NUSTAR’s collaboration with Tabor Hill College reflects a commitment to investing in Cebu’s future.

What made WOVEN particularly memorable was how naturally luxury and purpose coexisted throughout the evening. It wasn’t simply about celebrating four successful years — it was about highlighting the people, stories, and craftsmanship that continue to shape Cebu’s cultural landscape. From the intricate fashion pieces to the moving orchestral performances, every element of the evening felt intentional and deeply connected to Cebuano identity.

As the night came to a close, WOVEN: Four Years of Elevated Moments left guests with more than just beautiful visuals and memorable performances. It served as a reminder that celebrations become even more meaningful when they uplift communities, preserve culture, and create opportunities for future generations — something NUSTAR continues to champion through experiences that go far beyond hospitality.
