I recently took a day trip to soak in the sights, and trust me, it was worth every second. Here’s how it went!

Kasamatsu Park: Where the Sky Meets the Sea
Imagine standing on a mountaintop, looking down at a natural sandbar covered in lush pine trees, stretching across the ocean like a floating bridge. That’s Amanohashidate, and Kasamatsu Park is one of the best places to see it.

Hop on the Kasamatsu Cable Car or, if you’re feeling adventurous, take the open-air chair lift for an Instagrammable ride up. The cool breeze, panoramic views, and that feeling of floating above the trees? Unbeatable.

What to Do at Kasamatsu Park?

✔️ Try the “Matanozoki” Pose – Bend over and look at Amanohashidate upside down between your legs! It’s said to make the sandbar look like a bridge to the heavens. Bonus: It’s also a fun travel tradition!

✔️ Toss a Wish into the Sky – Grab a clay disc and aim for the target at the Undama Throwing Spot. If you land it, your wish might just come true!

✔️ Chill with a View – Enjoy some black sesame ice cream or a light snack at the café while soaking in the scenery.

Nariaiji Temple: A Hidden Gem in the Hills
Just when I thought things couldn’t get more breathtaking, I made my way to Nariaiji Temple, a peaceful Buddhist retreat nestled high in the mountains. This temple is part of the Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage and is believed to bring good fortune, safe travels, and prosperity.

How to get there:
Bus from Kasamatsu Park (10 minutes) – If hiking (50 minutes to or from Kasamatsu Park) isn’t your thing, hop on the shuttle bus that runs between Kasamatsu Park and the temple. Quick and easy!

Why You’ll Love Nariaiji Temple
The Five-Story Pagoda – A vibrant red pagoda set against a lush green backdrop? Pure magic.
Serene, Crowd-Free Vibes – It’s a hidden treasure compared to Kyoto’s busy temples, making it a perfect spot to slow down and soak in the moment.
The Ultimate Viewpoint – Nariaiji is perched even higher than Kasamatsu Park, so expect jaw-dropping, postcard-worthy views of Amanohashidate.

If you have extra time, consider visiting Ichinomiya, the northern part of Amanohashidate. It’s a hidden gem with a tranquil atmosphere, and exploring this side of the area—especially Nariaiji Temple’s peaceful surroundings—makes the journey even more special.

So, would you add this dreamy destination to your Japan bucket list? Let me know—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
