Hello, Ho Chi Minh! Onboard Cebu Pacific’s First-Ever Direct Flight from Cebu to Vietnam
I just boarded something pretty special tonight—a historic first flight that now connects Cebu directly to Ho Chi Minh City via Cebu Pacific Air!
Yup, it’s official: no need to fly to Manila just to get to Vietnam anymore. Cebu Pacific just launched its inaugural Cebu–Ho Chi Minh flight today, April 7, and I’m lucky to be one of the first passengers on board. We took off at exactly 9:30 PM from Mactan-Cebu International Airport, and we’re landing in Ho Chi Minh by 11:40 PM—just in time for a late-night bowl of pho.

Everything about this flight feels exciting. From check-in to boarding, you could really tell this wasn’t your average flight. The crew was all smiles, and you could sense that everyone on board was equally hyped. There’s something about flying a brand-new route that just hits different!

Cebu Pacific will now be flying this Cebu–Ho Chi Minh route every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, and return flights from Ho Chi Minh to Cebu every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. That’s 3x weekly both ways—super convenient for both spontaneous weekend trips and longer Vietnam escapes.
This is such a win not only for travelers from Cebu and the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao, but also for those who just want fewer layovers and more adventure. Imagine hopping on a flight after dinner and waking up in a new country (well, landing at midnight, but still!).
So here’s to more direct routes, more travel stories, and more reasons to explore Southeast Asia from our own backyard. Off to Ho Chi Minh we go—see you on the next leg of the adventure!
